The programme continues to address the challenges passengers with disabilities and mobility restrictions encounter when using railway stations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Accessibility challenges seriously impact the confidence and ability of people to use rail travel. This includes people with health conditions or physical impairments, the elderly, and people with children. Precision <a href=\"https:\/\/www.m-cnc.co.uk\/sectors\/rail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rail machining<\/a> is playing a huge part in improving the <strong>infrastructure<\/strong> of the rail service in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Access for All programme \u2013 CP7 goals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The AfA programme is currently in <strong>Control Period 7 (CP7)<\/strong>, a planned set of activities and goals for maintaining the UK\u2019s railway structure over the next <strong>five years<\/strong> (between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2029). These aims include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Delivering <strong>inclusive and accessible<\/strong> services and facilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Designing new station schemes and changing existing stations to be compliant with the <strong>DfT Design of Accessible Stations Code of Practice<\/strong> (and other relevant accessibility requirements).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More effective management of remote condition monitoring for <strong>lifts and escalators<\/strong> across the network \u2013 and improved response times when there are faults.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Inclusive rail station design<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In May 2024, Ministers announced <strong>eight <\/strong>stations would receive immediate accessibility improvements, and <strong>twenty-three<\/strong> other stations would proceed to the detailed design stage for improvements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.m-cnc.co.uk\/sectors\/rail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rail engineering<\/a> will play a significant part in this surge in station upgrades driven by Access for All.
